About The Cart House

The Cart House is a delightful cottage with lovely countryside walks, set down a quiet country lane, you will realise just how close the sea is when you catch distant glimpses of it on your approach.

Just 350 yards up the lane, a footpath takes you across the National Trust fields to the coastal road opposite Maidenhall car park, less than a mile walk, with a panoramic view of St Brides Bay, where you can access the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and explore this stunning coastline fully. There are other circular walks to be explored over the surrounding National Trust land. Newgale beach is only 1 and a half miles away, while the picturesque cove of Nolton is also nearby The village of Roch with its local pub serving delicious bar meals is approximately half a mile away.

A most attractive stone barn conversion adjoining the owner’s own home, a footpath takes you from your large parking area over a sloping lawn to the cottage. Step into the open-plan living space where open beams and stone fireplace have been retained to give a traditional feel, comfortably furnished with pretty pine furniture. Enjoy cosy evenings around the open fire. The two bedrooms nestle in the eaves while a door leads from the twin bedroom to the original granary steps down to the totally enclosed lawn, a super sheltered spot ideal for children to play while you enjoy an alfresco meal on a summer’s evening or stroll through the field and enjoy the wonderful sunsets over the sea.

Ideally placed for exploring the rest of Pembrokeshire, a short drive will take you to the picturesque harbour village of Solva, well worth a visit with its pretty shops, pubs and restaurants, in the opposite direction lies the long sandy beach of Broad Haven popular with families and water sport enthusiasts alike.

The Cart House is the perfect holiday base.

We had a lovely week in the Cart House. Thank you for letting us have it. We walked all the way to Newgale beach, Saint Davids the next day and Saint Justinians. We drove all the way to Fishguard and then Cardigan. The Cart House is very comfortable and we would love to come again. Overall we had a great time exploring west Wales every night I helped mummy cook and wash up which I loved. I took Archie for walks some times and its really fun. One night Andy put the fire on and left it on all night and in the morning it was real hot. Lots of Love.

Rich Marge Tracey Dave and Brian

We Have all had a wonderful stay. We can thoroughly recommend the kayak tours fom Newgale beach - "Big Paul" took us out around the coastline, into caves, showed us how to fish for Mackerel and then how to gut out catch which we bbq'd on the beach. Folly farm was fantastic for Brian and he loved all the animals and plying on the tractors. The pub quiz at the Victoria at the top of the road was a good laugh although I suspect there was a little cheating going on. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back again.

Gill Paul Matthew and Thomas

Wonderful location, warm and cozy cottage and extremely lucky with the weather! Another fantastic 2 weeks in sunny Pembs. Boys have had a fabulous time jumping waves at Newgale, rock pooling at Druidstone and crabbing at Solva. The outside space here has been particularly appreciated on return from the beach. Its great to get the towels de-sanded on the line. Having the opportunity to bath rather than shower the boys has also been appreciated. Thank you for sharing your lovely home I have a feeling we will be back.

The Brydens

Despite the chilly weather we had a very enjoyable stay here, Enjoyed some lovely sunny coastal walks around Newgale and St Davids A day trip to Skomer Island is a must for wildlife enthusiasts. Dinner at the Druidstone Hotel watching the sun set is definitely worth doing. Thank you for your kind hospitality.

Chris, Glyne Hugh and Bo

Thank you for allowing us to stay in the cottage with our beloved dogs Hugh and Bo Belle. We have walked and walked! The scenary is breathtaking, we have stayed up late and got up late with no plans of what we have to do!! The perfect switch off completely. So back to reality!!

This was our first visit to Pembrokeshire and I feel sure we will return. The weather has been beautiful. We have enjoyed lots of walks over the cliffs with our dog. The cottage is lovely comfortable and homely. We had a perfect last evening - we took fish and chips down to Newgale beach and watched the surfers and a fantastic sunset. Thank you.

Annette, Ron and Molly

Many thanks once again Jenny and John for providing a peaceful haven in our favourite part of the country. Lovely week as always see you in the autumn.

The Browns

The cottage lived upto our expectations as was super clean, cosy, and warm and in a great location. Having never explored Pembrokeshire what a treat! However we still loved coming back to Newgale Beach everytime - the view is so impressive. Both the cottage and the area is so welcoming and dog friendly. The white rug a firm faviurite with our Boxer Kathy. Tenby was a lovely day out and Picton, Haverfordwest, St Davids and Pemborke all worth a trip - our son loved the varied castles to explore. Great as he is doing Tudor history at primary school.

Claire and Stuart

The cottage is everything you could want, one of the best we have ever stayed in. Pembrokeshire is the most beautiful county, the patchwork fields and views as far as the eye can see. The beautiful beaches- everything so clean- a wonderful place to relax, plenty to do if you want to get out and about. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

Fern & Phillip

What a wonderful, peaceful week. The Cart House is so well appointed and comfortable and such a warm welcome. We have walked miles on the coastal path with our young dog, the roadside flowers & wild meadows have been at their very best. The beaches are superb- visit as many as you can for every one is different. Plenty of good places to eat within a few miles of Roch. Pembrokeshire was even more beautiful than we expected.

Rob Maddie Maya & Jude,

Thank you for a wonderful week. We had such a lovely time here: a very peaceful place full of character and charm. Lovely for Jude’s first holiday. Best wishes

Sarah and Tristan.

Lynne & Neil Tamworth

Lovely peaceful cottage- Enjoyed- endless hours on Newgale beach; watching the bats in the lane; the RIB boat ride around Ramsey- saw seal pups, peregrine, purple sandpiper; a walk along the coastal path revealed an adder enjoying the sunshine; riding- western style; sitting enjoying the early evening in the garden, when a barn owl flew over the gate right beside us! Everything has been just perfect here, fabulous location, warm cosy cottage, friendly people. We shall be back!

Sheila and Audrey

It has been a great pleasure to return here. The Cart House, maintaining such high standards, in beautiful Pembrokeshire will always win 'first prize'.

Barbara, Ellis and Devlin

A lovely place to celebrate the new year. We've been to there cottages mant times but you have to book early - so many last minute trips have been elsewhere. The standards in these cottages (Cart House and Byre (30663) are unmatched.

John and Diana

Beautiful cottage, such attention to detail from sharp knives, good pans to pegs. A relaxing place, thanks.

Gareth and Gill

Our second visit to the Cart House and every bit as enjoyable as the first! Delightful cottage and beautiful Pembrokeshire - the perfect combination! Thanks Jenny.

Colin and Louise

Our first visit to Pembrokeshire but not our last! The cottage was all we could have hoped for - so nice to see such a lovely conversion with all mod cons but keeping the character of the old building. Particularly enjoyed reading by the lake in the sunshine and feeding the fish.

Alison, Ian, Samuel & Abigail

The Cart House has been a lovely base for a holiday - it is immaculate and so nicely furnished. The children loved the garden and the toys which are here. All in all a lovely, peaceful holiday spot. Thank you Jenny and family.

Chris, Edward & Jennie

We only stayed a few days but wish we could have stayed longer. Next time we come here to Pembrokeshire it will definitely be here. Everything was so clean and cosy. Thank you for the finishing touches - fresh milk & flowers.
